Day 17

The sky began to change as the darkness slowly merged and blended into a mild bluish-pink hue. The chirping of birds could be heard muting down, minute by minute, as if to prepare for a coming long night. It seemed as though the world was ready for a deep sleep after a tiring day. Even though the mood was turning dark orange, Padma seemed like she was still stuck in the blues of the day.

She sat under her grandpa's old apple tree, thinking about the strange man who visited her at office that day. Usually, she would not have thought twice about him, being in sales, but something about him seemed familiar and odd. Like he was trying to say something but holding back, hoping she could read his mind. What was he trying to say though? Wha--

A loud smashing sound came from inside her house, breaking her from her thoughts. She went in to see and sure, it was Mira. She had just come back home and was walking around the looking extremely exhausted. 'Working in a hospital sure is heavy on the body' thought Padma. She tiptoed around the house so as to not wake Mira up from her nap before she had to rush to the hospital again. It seemed a bit strange that she had come back at this time of the day though but Padma knew better than to disturb a tired sleeping Mira.

As Padma tiptoed past Mira, a sudden, icy breeze swept through the house, chilling her to the bone. The walls of her home started to ripple like water, and the familiar surroundings distorted into a kaleidoscope of colours. In the blink of an eye, Padma found herself standing in a vast, glowing forest, where the trees hummed with a strange, melodic energy.

She turned around to see Mira, still asleep, floating several feet above the ground, enveloped in a soft, golden light.
